Our farm

We are a family-run farm. We've established perennial garden beds and greenhouses to grow nutritious food using sustainable methods all year round. We grow a wide selection of vegetables, herbs, fruits and legumes using only natural growing methods (100% no-spray and chemical-free). Our focus is to nurture biodiversity and natural ecosystems; we hand weed our beds and hand harvest all our produce.

Soil is the foundation

The soil is the source of 95% of the nutrients we consume. Conventionally grown crops use tillage and fertilizers that usually only contain the three essential chemical elements needed for plant growth: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK). Over time, this leaves soils depleted of many essential minerals including calcium, iron, cobalt, magnesium, zinc and selenium to name just a few. This depletion leads to weaker crops which are more susceptible to disease and pest damage, which in turn leads to reliance upon fungicides and pesticides.

 Permaculture & regenerative agriculture

We use only sustainable growing methods and natural biological controls to produce the finest, freshest, chemical-free foods. We nurture the long-term health and biological diversity of our soil by avoiding tillage and adding only organic matter. This creates a symbiotic relationship; microorganisms give rise to enzymes and organic acids that extract all the elements from the soil that plants require. This leads to strong, healthy, tasteful and nutrient dense produce.

Environmental sustainability

Most of the produce consumed in BC is sourced either inter-provincially or internationally. Conventional agricultural practices and transportation both rely heavily upon fossil fuels, leaving a much larger carbon footprint. This also entails a longer farm to plate lead time and greater nutrient loss. By contrast, much of the produce you will find in our market has been harvested from our field on that day. It doesn't get fresher than that!

Our gardening course

One of life’s greatest pleasures is growing our own food. In the Fraser Valley, it’s surprisingly simple to feed ourselves and our families from a backyard, or, better yet, our front yard garden plot. Click here to learn more.
